Salpointe Weekly Peek – October 4, 2024

Weekly Prayer

This week we honor Deacons, ordained members of the clergy who faithfully serve God and may choose to marry. Salpointe Campus Ministry Director, Deacon Scott Pickett, offers this special prayer: Loving and Gracious God,
It is You who call us by name and ask us to follow You. Help us to grow in the Love and Service of our Church. Give us the energy and courage of your Holy Spirit to shape its future.
Grant us faith-filled leaders who will embrace Christ’s Mission of love and justice.
Bless Salpointe Catholic High School by raising up dedicated and generous leaders from our student body, alumni, families, teachers, staff, and administrators. Inspire us to know You better and open our hearts to hear your call.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen. Our Lady of Mount Carmel…Pray for us.

Seniors

College Updates for Seniors
Seniors are starting to receive their admissions decisions from our in-state colleges! We’re excited to share that so far there are 20 acceptances to ASU, 18 to NAU and 46 to UA – congratulations to everyone! Most seniors should be applying to in-state colleges this semester. Just a quick reminder: whether you apply directly through the college’s website or use the Common App, it’s essential to list the colleges in Scoir under the “Applying” or “Applied” column. If you don’t, we won’t know to send important school documents like your transcript and, for some colleges, letters of recommendation. Make sure to identify your application method and keep track of the deadlines.
As you prepare for college, don’t forget to apply for scholarships, learn about Financial Aid and how to pay for college.

You can still register, and we’ll send out a recording of the event along with helpful resources to everyone who signs up.

Congratulations to the Lancer Marching Band
Congratulations to the Lancer Marching Band on their success at the first marching band invitational of the 2024 competitive season, “Rock The Den”, held at Mountain View High School on September 29. The Lancers took home their first ever caption win and first ever first place division win under Director Howell! Captions are top scores in one of five scored or combined scoring categories. The Lancer Marching Band took the top score in four out of five categories: High General Effect, High Music, High Visual and High Percussion! The combined scores of all five categories placed the Lancers first of the four schools participating in the 1A division that day. Congratulations to the marching band students and Mr. Howell for these remarkable achievements. Thanks to all of the parents and families, to the new assistant marching band instructors, Makhai Gilbert and Paige Hartung, and everyone who supports marching band.
