Salpointe Weekly Peek – November 15, 2024

Weekly Prayer

Deacon Scott Pickett

O God, when we have food,
help us to remember the hungry;
When we or our parents have work,
help us to remember the jobless;
When we have a home,
help us to remember those who have no home at all;
When we are without pain,
help us to remember those who suffer,
And remembering,
help us to destroy our complacency;
bestir our compassion,
and be concerned enough to help;
by word and deed,
those who cry out for what we take for granted.
Help us, as a Lancer Family, to truly be thankful for all that we have in our lives.  Amen.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel…Pray for us.

General Announcements

Early Dismissal/Leaving Campus
Students are required to provide the Attendance Office (Student Services Center) with notification via note or phone call from the parent/guardian prior to leaving campus. Students may not leave campus without clearance by the Health or Attendance Office. Parents may not remove a student from campus without prior notification to the Attendance Office. Students being picked up with a dismissal slip should report to the Attendance Office. Violation of this policy may result in an absence and disciplinary consequences may be imposed.

**Please be sure to give at least a two hour notice for your request to be processed. The number for Attendance is 520-327-1990 or email; attendance@salpointe.org.

Note: Students who fall ill during school hours and need to go home must check out through the Health Office. The Health Office will facilitate the necessary travel arrangements for the student. Parents/Guardians are required to pick up their student from the Health Office, rather than from the Student Services Center
Salpointe Drug Testing
Dear Salpointe Community,
At Salpointe, we are deeply committed to working in partnership with you to ensure the health and well-being of our students. One important part of that commitment is our drug testing program, which provides a critical support system for our students and offers them an important “out” when faced with the temptation to use drugs.
While we are dedicated to regularly drug testing our Lancers, we need your help to make this program effective. Drug testing takes place once a week on A days, and we are currently seeking volunteers to assist with this important work. The volunteer training takes only 10 minutes, and the full day of volunteering runs from 8:20 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. weekly. If we can establish a robust pool of volunteers, we can split the time into two shifts to make it more manageable.
Unfortunately, we currently have very few volunteers supporting the program. Therefore, I am reaching out to our Salpointe community to ask for your assistance. If you have time in your schedule and are willing to contribute to this important cause, we would be so grateful for your support. Your time and commitment to this service opportunity would be deeply appreciated by our students, their families, and our entire school community.
If you are interested in volunteering or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly. I will connect you with Terry Neubeck, our School Health Assistant, to provide further details.
Thank you in advance for your support and generosity.
Warm regards,
Ardemis Martin
Get Involved at Salpointe
As a Lancer parent, you are a treasured part of the Salpointe community and we encourage you to get involved on campus. Interested in selling tickets or working in the snack bar at athletic events? How about helping at a college fair? Would you enjoy working on the Foundation Gala or Lady Lancer Brunch and Blessing committee? These are just some of the opportunities available. If you are interested, please complete this volunteer form. We’ll be in touch as needs arise. Thank you for your support.

Spirituality

Kairos 299 Return
On behalf of Campus Ministry, we would like to thank everyone who kept our leaders and retreatants in your thoughts and prayers. They had a blessed and successful retreat and safe return.
Honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe
Salpointe invites the Lancer community to celebrate The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 7:30 a.m. in Salpointe’s Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Chapel. This is an important day for our community parishes and schools to pay homage to our Blessed Mother. We will commemorate the sacred apparitions of the Virgin of Guadalupe to Juan Diego in 1531 on the hallowed hill of Tepeyac in Mexico.

Seniors

Paying for College
The application for Federal Student Aid will open in December. Please view the FAFSA info sheet for help getting started. If your family is interested in completing the FAFSA with experts who work with FAFSA and financial aid, please register to join us on Tuesday, December 10, from 5-7 p.m. in Foundation Hall for a FAFSA completion workshop.
