General Announcements

After School Tutoring
Tutoring begins Tuesday, January 21, 2025, and will be held Monday through Thursday each week. Tutoring for Math, English and Science run from  at 2:45-4:00 p.m. (NEW TIME) in the Library (NEW LOCATION). Attendance for tutoring can be viewed through myPointe. Any changes to this schedule will be announced during the Daily announcements.
Weekly Schedule:
Monday: English, Physics, Math
Tuesday: English, Anatomy & Physiology/Environmental Science, Math Wednesday: English, Chemistry/Biology, Math Thursday: English, Math, Biology
College Roadmap: College Planning Workshop
Attention Freshman, Sophomore and Junior students and parents! Join us for an informative workshop designed to navigate the college application process. We’ll discuss essential topics like timelines, preparation strategies and paying for college. Whether you’re just beginning to explore your post-high school options or are already in the midst of planning, this session is a must!
When: Saturday, January 25 at 3:00 p.m.
Where: Foundation Hall
We encourage at least one parent to attend with their student. Together, let’s make your college dreams a reality—it’s never too early to start planning! RSVP today!
Annual March for Life
Join the 52nd annual March for Life in Tucson, a peaceful demonstration honoring the value of all life. The march takes place on Saturday, January 18 with a 9:00 a.m. Mass at St. Augustine Cathedral, led by Bishop Edward Weisenburger. The march will then proceed from the Cathedral to Holy Hope Cemetery for the Rose Ceremony. The 4-mile routes takes approximately 1.5 hours. Please wear tennis shoes, bring water and dress in warm layers.

Athletics

MLK Basketball Tournament
Gail Urbanski, one of our Campus Ministers, has been honored by Salpointe Catholic as the school’s representative at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Basketball Tournament on Monday, January 20.  Each participating school names one teacher or staff member who best represents the ideals and values of Dr. King. Mrs. Urbanski has been at Salpointe Catholic as a teacher and Campus Minister for 27 years. Educating students about the social justice teachings of the Catholic Church, honoring the dignity of all people and standing up for the marginalized have been the focus of her years as an educator. Salpointe is proud to have her represent us at the tournament that was named in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Mrs. Urbanski will recognized during half-time of the boys’ game with Tucson High which begins at 7:30 p.m. at the UA McKale Center.
Diego Gadea Wrestling Tournament
On Friday, January 24, we will host Day 1 of the Diego Gadea Wrestling Tournament from 6:30 a.m.- 7:00 p.m. in the Kalil Family Gymnasium and Alumni Hall. The QB Club parking lot inside the Mountain Ave gate will be reserved for visiting wrestling teams and their vehicles, and will be closed to all Salpointe students. Students should park in the Glenn parking lot, the dirt lot at Glenn and Cherry or legally in the surrounding neighborhood. Thank you for your cooperation.
Athletic Commitment Celebration
Join us for the Athletic Commitment Celebration on Tuesday, January 28 at 3:00 p.m. in Kalil Family Gymnasium. This event honors our student-athletes who have committed to playing their sport in college next year, providing a chance to celebrate their achievements together. If you’ve committed to playing at the collegiate level, please visit the Athletic Office in room 307 to pick up your invitation. We look forward to a wonderful event. Go Lancers!
African American Athlete Scholars
On October 6, 2024, a statewide search began to find premiere African American male scholar athletes. These Arizona student athletes must exhibit in their lives a commitment to high academic standards and substantive service to their communities. All of these athletes will be recognized at an in-person awards banquet and be featured on video on website and YouTube.
Applicants must meet the following:
  • Male Student Athlete
  • Have some African American Heritage
  • High School or JR High Student (6th grade-12th grade).
  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Good athlete (any sport)
  • Past community service or willing to do some in the future
