Salpointe Weekly Peek – August 23, 2024

Weekly Prayer

Deacon Scott Pickett

Loving Father,
Thank you for all this next week offers.
May we open doors of opportunity, for ourselves and for others.
May we be a light in the darkness, offering help and bringing comfort to others when they need it most.
May we use the talents You have given us, showing love to those around us, especially those less fortunate than ourselves.
May we be proud of who we are as Lancers and celebrate our differences, by highlighting the positives, and eradicating the negatives in all that we say, think, and do.
Help us be inspired by the Saints, especially our Carmelite Saints, to work and to pray and so make Salpointe Catholic a place of learning, love, and compassion.
We ask this in Your Son’s Name, Amen.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Pray for us.

General Announcements

Service Program
The Service Program at Salpointe Catholic is part of our holistic approach to education and reflects an important element within the Carmelite charisms. Students are required to complete 10 hours of service each year. Students should complete 40 hours of service over four years. ALL students have been entered into the x2VOL system. Please use the attachments below to login and submit your hours.

Service Opportunities
There are a number of ways students can complete service hours. View list of possibilities. Students (or group of students) can also create a personal service project;

  1. Identify a particular need in the local community (immediate or long-term)
  2. List what you would hope to accomplish in doing this service
  3. Plan to complete service and projected hours
  4. Plan submitted to service moderator for review and approval (review and approval is to assist in making sure the project can be successful)
**Note – Volunteer service is intended to reach out and support individuals or groups who are not able to help themselves. Taking compensation for work that you normally do, such as a job or home chores, does not qualify for service. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Shinaberry at kshinaberry@salpointe.org.
After School Tutoring
After school tutoring is back! Tutoring is held in rooms 408 and 411 from Monday through Thursday, between 3:00-4:15 p.m. All students seeking assistance in math, science, English or Spanish are encouraged to attend. A list of available tutors can be found here. To verify your child’s attendance in tutoring, please follow the instructions provided in the link. For any questions, please reach out to Sara Welchert at swelchert@salpointe.org.
