General Announcements

Thank You for Your Generosity!
Salpointe students and families contributed $2000 to Catholic Relief Services through our Lenten Rice Bowl offerings this year. This is the largest total we have ever collected, and it included donations from every level of Theology classes. Thank you to our families and generous community members!
 
STEM Microbes Summer Camp for 7th & 8th Graders 
The Microbes STEM Summer Camp is taking place on the Salpointe campus this summer for rising 7th and 8th graders. Salpointe faculty members will lead students on a fascinating journey in the study of the vast world of microbes, how we are able to look at them and why they are critical to life on the planet. Camp schedule is Monday, July 15 - Thursday, July 18 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Friday, July 19 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Registration fee includes lunch Monday-Thursday. Click Family Library & Technology Center- Return Books
Students, please begin turning in your library books. All library books and materials are due back by the end of this semester (May 24th). If you're not sure if you have books checked out, stop by the library and Ms. Beer can check your library account.     
 
Upcoming College Visit
Does the idea of becoming a global citizen and serving your country appeal to you? In the Peace Corps, volunteers work at the grassroots level toward sustainable change that lives on long after their service. Volunteers gain knowledge, experience and a global outlook that enriches the lives of others. The Peace Corps Prep Program from the University of Arizona will be on campus on May 1 during the Community Period. Please register in Scoir or contact Mrs. McCall if you are interested in attending.
 
Diocese of Tucson Teen Jubilee
The Diocese of Tucson is excited to invite Catholic youth from across Southern Arizona to visit Rome next spring for the 2025 Jubilee of Hope!

Interested students must be enrolled in high school, be active Catholics in their parish and receive a letter of recommendation from their pastor.

Graduation Ticket Distribution
Seniors be sure to stop by Foundation Hall on Friday, May 3 after school (12:30-2:00 p.m.) to pickup your packet of graduation tickets. Additional tickets to the graducation commencement at the TCC can be requested by clicking https://forms.gle/o5SZBFVzWtVjedBFA.
 
Lancer College Day
The class of 2024 has reached $20 Million in scholarships so far - super impressive! All seniors need to send in their scholarship values and update Scoir with where they have been admitted and will attend. Now is the time! It's getting close to the May 1 deadline for the graduation program and Lancer College Day. We're here to celebrate your achievements and support you every step of the way. Contact Mrs. McCall or Mr. McGann if you want to discuss your college options or have questions.
 
Get ready for Lancer College Day on May 1st - Wear jeans or shorts and a T-shirt or sweatshirt representing your future college.
 
Senior Slideshow
Attention Class of 2024 Parents and Students - It is time to send in your photos for the Senior Slideshow for our banquet at the end of the year. We are asking you to submit three photos: a baby photo, a high quality senior portrait or photo and a photo of you with friends.

Class of 2025 Kairos Registration Information
Dear Class of 2025,
Registration for Kairos will open up next Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. Spots will fill up quickly so I urge you to sign up as soon as possible. Please keep in mind your activity schedule when choosing a date to attend. Once all spots are filled you may come into Campus Ministry and ask to be added to an alternate list.
 
You will need to locate the Campus Ministry page under the Student Life tab on the school website to register.
 
These dates will be the last opportunity for you to attend Kairos. So do not hesitate!

Kickstart U College Application Workshop
Do you need a “Kickstart” on Your College Application Essay? The KICKSTART U College Application Workshop is an innovative program designed to help students tell their unique stories to the colleges they aspire to attend. Our program employs proven strategies for developing a winning application packet. Our workshop size is limited to 12 or fewer participants to ensure that all students receive the attention they deserve. Our program is designed to meet the needs of students who intend to apply to out-of-state schools and competitive universities and programs.
 
Upon completion of the Kickstart U College Application Workshop, Students Will Have:

-Toolkit for Polishing Successful Application Essays
-Personal Feedback on Essay Drafts
-Brag sheet and Academic Resume Support

Financial Aid

Arizona Leadership Foundation (ALF) - now accepting applications for 24/25!
Arizona Leadership Foundation offers Low Income and Disabled/Displaced tax credit scholarships.
Please utilize the ALF Online Portal to submit your scholarship application. 2023 Federal Income Taxes (IRS Form 1040) are required with each application. If filing an IRS extension, please view the tip sheet for additional directions. Incomplete applications for both programs will be rejected. The Tip Sheet and Scholarship Flyer provide additional information. Supplemental Forms can be found on the ALF website, click HERE. If eligible for both Low Income and Disabled/Displaced, an application must be completed for each program. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact ALF:

Institute for Better Education (IBE) - now accepting applications for the 24/25 school year! Also still accepting applications for the current 23/24 school year.
IBE not only offers financial need-based awards, but they also accept Arizona tax credit recommendations for Salpointe students. Please apply at www.ibescholarships.org. A new application must be completed each school year. Please be sure to select the correct school year.

Fine Arts

Chloe Zhang '25 Places in U.S. Congressional Arts Competition
Congratulations to 2D Fine Arts Student Chloe Zhang '25, who placed 3rd for her watercolor painting "Sweet Cravings" in the High School Congressional Art Competition hosted by Mr. Juan Ciscomani, US House of Representatives, Arizona's 6th Congressional District. High school students competed from Greenlee, Cochise, Pima, Pinal and Graham Counties for this opportunity. Very proud of you, Chloe! 
 
Congrats Presley Gyuro '27
Presley Gyuro ('27) earned one of the coveted top 10 spots in the 11th annual Arizona Highways "Adventures in Nature" student photography competition. This year there were nearly 700 entries from students between the ages of 13-18. Presley's photo of a round tail ground squirrel caught the attention of the judges and earned her an honorable mention. Congratulations, Presley!
 
Gold Troupe Performance Ranking
The Arizona Thespians Board awarded Troupe 5470 with a Gold performance rating after our talented thespians competed at the SAFT. Congratulations!
 
Spring Fine Arts Festival
Join us for an evening of music and art for the annual Spring Fine Arts Festival on May 1, 2024 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The Spring Fine Arts Festival is a culmination of art and music. In the Corcoran Theater listen to the beautiful sounds of the Concert Choir, Percussion Ensemble, Maroon & Gold Jazz Band, String Orchestra and the Symphonic Band and Orchestra. Meet and greet the visual artists and see their expressive art in the Stevens Gallery, featuring students from 2D & 3D Art as well as Advanced Photography. This is an evening showcasing the culminated skills of our creative Lancers. On May 4th there will be gallery hours from noon-4:00 p.m. for visitors to enjoy the Fine Arts Festival visual art. Stevens Gallery additional hours to view 2D, 3D and Advanced Photography are noon-4:00 p.m. on May 5. All are welcome. View flyer here.

Yearly Athletic Physical
Dear Lancer Faithful,
 
It is almost the end of the school year and time to get your athletes ready for next year. The Tucson Orthopaedic Institute is presenting a Sports Physical Event on Saturday May 4th at our East Office by TMC, and another at our Northwest Office on Saturday May 11th. Please pass this information on to your athletes and their parents. We look forward to seeing your athletes there! Go Lancers!

Early Dismissal/Leaving Campus
Attendance Line number is 520-327-1990.
Please be sure to give at least a two hour notice for your request to be processed. All early dismissal requests are retrieved from voicemail. We do not have an intercom system, we have TAs taking passes to class to get students dismissed.
 
Used Truck Needed
Have a used truck you’d like to donate? Salpointe needs a 2015 or newer, open bed truck with less than 50,000 miles. If you would like to donate it to Salpointe, please contact Todd Schulte at tschulte@salpointe.org. Thank you!
